Apr. 19th, 2015 09:01 pmOver on io9 is a poll for "Which Summer Movie Will Be This Year's Biggest Flop?". I voted for Jurassic World because 1) it looks dated, 2) lead guy is friends with raptors (there's a clip & poster of him motorcycling with them???!!!), 3) really dumb "dino villian" concept (highly aggressive, man-made, hybrid of T. Rex and something or other - the end result looks totally hokey - roid Allosurous with pinkeye and skin condition).
Yeah, this will make money at the box office, but nowhere near on the scale of Jurassic Park. I predict it'll start off strong then peter off.
Predictions for the rest:
Avengers: Age of Ultron: Popular series and still going strong. Probably will do very well.
Mad Max: Fury Road: No Mel Gibson???!!! Borrowing a plot point from Hell Comes to Frogtown don't help either.
Poltergeist: Pointless remake of a classic = so-so.
Tomorrowland: A quick and quiet passing.
Inside Out: Pixar can do no wrong.
Ted 2: Soon to be sharing dvd bargain bin space with Paul Blart: Mall Cop 2.
Terminator Genisys: Hard to say. This could go either way.
Minions: They got a following. Probably will do OK.
Ant-Man: Surprise hit?
Pixels: HELLO! Adam Sandler aka Box Office Death Rattle.
Fantastic Four: Reboot = so-so to flop. Riding on Avengers coattails = DOOMED!
The Man From UNCLE: "Based on TV series" have a 90% chance of failure = DOOMED!
