If you got cable, it pops up sometimes on TCM (they own Criterion Collection). Amazon has rent to stream is pretty cheap.
The adaptation with Drew Barrymore and Jessica Lange is a great companion movie. Netflix has the dvd. Amazon does have the stream, but kinda pricey. You could do the HBO trial/free for a week and see it that way.
Romero had another zombie movie in the works, too. That's what makes his passing a sad surprise. He clearly wasn't expecting to shuffle off this mortal coil anytime soon.
Be so nice having companions be companions again and not have some of them/attractive young female ones turn into Mary freakin Sues.
