"Looker" and "Videodrome" are coming too close to reality.

Saw the freakiest report on 60 Minutes about deep fakes. I've known about them, but not how advanced the technology has gotten. So unnerving how real looking the fakes are now.

The site, This person does not exist, is nothing but creations by StyleGAN. Refresh the page for new ones and get increasingly unnerved by the minute.

Most of you probably already familiar with Videodrome (very easy to mentally switch out the movie's then TVs, VCR, and other dated technologies for today's computers, internet, etc., - EEK!). Looker, while not a good movie, does have some concepts that were way ahead of their time (EEK, again).

Both are available to rent for fairly cheap on Amazon.

All this weirdness, just in time for Halloween.

I saw Videodrome a long time ago but I've never seen Looker.

I stumbled across it many moons ago. Can't hold a candle to the far superior Videodrome. I'm surprised it's not free to view anywhere - not even on YouTube or Plex. Guess that's because of Michael Crichton - gotta make a buck off his name.
