Back in the days of Saturday morning, Hanna-Barbera was king. To stay on top, they milked the hell out of their most successful formulas. Case in point: One of many Scooby Doo knock-offs, Goober and the Ghost Chasers.

The Ghost Chasers goal was to pursue, find, photograph and interview (done by perky girl; when confronted by a grumpy spirit, she would whip out a pad and pen) spooks. Some ghosts were fake, some were real, all got the Specter Detector treatment, and Goober (the dog) would do his invisibility shtick at least once in every episode.

So where am I going with this?

Welp. In comparison to real life ghost hunters, Goober&Co are far more believable and professional paranormal investigators.

Typical ghost hunter show: Bunch of loud (and sometimes obnoxious; horsing around, cursing, forgetting their manners) people, who are somewhere in the dark. They alternate between copping attitude (by rudely issuing out orders) to the ghosts, and going on and on and on about "Something's here!! WOW, did you see that??!!", which you - the viewer - will never ever be privy to. The ghosts won't put in a TV appearance.

Goober&Co on the other hand, could 50% of the time produce actual physical evidence of a haunting.

After blowing a few hours of my life away on those dumb-ass reality ghost hunter shows, I swore "Never again" and waited for the day to be avenged.

That day (Dec. 11th) came, courtesy from Netflix:

While I believe in actual ghosts and hauntings, a lot of those reality shows are, well, not very real, lol. So this trailer cracks me up!! :D

I hate those reality show people, they are so freaking dumb and obnoxious! They are all rude to the ghosts and make threats to them, so if there really are ghosts there, I feel bad for them and I wish they would pick up someone spookily whispering "douchebaaaaaag" on the EVP recorder.

And don't get me started on the EVP recorder. They play some indistinguishable noise and then say "Look, the ghost said hello!" I'm like, "Or it was your shoe scraping on the floor. Or you passed gas. Or it was the other "ghost hunter" team that is working elsewhere in the building. Or it was a squirrel."

They use things like "we heard a scuttling noise!" "I saw a shadow of a man!" and my favorite "Look, I have goosebumps!" as evidence that there is paranormal activity. No, it's evidence that critters inhabit attics and abandoned buildings, that your friend's flashlight was shining behind you, and that you are scared.

Anyway... this movie looks awesome and I want to watch it!!

I think it especially pisses me off because I really want them to find evidence of a haunting, but when I can tell they are not being diligent at all trying to rule out natural phenomenon, I just get disgusted at the whole show. But I still watch it lol. I just make fun of them.
