No, I didn't board The Rapture.
Sep. 29th, 2025 04:45 pmSorry to have disappeared for awhile. It was a combination of the usual US going to hell in a handbasket and the end of Windows 10 support.
Yes, already knew about getting the extended support for 10, BUT that doesn't change the fact my system is about 13 years old and is showing it's age some. Also a tower set-up, located in a ergonomic challenged and cramped spot that can not be changed in any way nor moved from. I'm fed-up with not being physically comfortable sitting in front of the computer for extended periods of time and having limited surface space. Plus any new upgrades might not be supported in the near future.
Long story short, got a new router, laptop, and Echo dot. Right now I'm using my old system. Hopefully, this weekend I'll be posting from the laptop. Still have files and pics to move; everything else is already done. FireFox made the browser booksmarks so damn easy to migrate over.
Can't say the same for Echo dot. My previous dot is 3rd generation (looks like a hockey puck). Once the new router got installed, 3rd dot became a literal hockey puck - totally unable to hook-up, no matter what I tried.
Like having Alexa around, so got a 5th gen. Thanks to my possibly being on the spectrum and Amazon's not being in terms I could understand on one step, it took three hours of tears and frustration to set-up the damn thing. If the wording for "have wifi and password handy" had been instead "be sure to have your wifi connection already installed on your phone" the whole set-up process would have taken me 20 minutes tops. Even better if the set-up could have been done on my Fire Kindle, like I did with 3rd dot, which was a total breeze. But, NO, everything now must be done on a android phone - hrumph!
Anyway, already enjoying turning on the laptop and not having to wait forever to it to be ready to go.
