I enjoy reading Hellsing artist's pu-sama's deviantART journal

This entry bugged me - Rip is a were

Couldn't BELIEVE how many people thought Rip wasn't a vampire.

I hope, there's SOMETHING explaining the difference between a "werewolf of folklore" and a "werewolf in the Nazi military" in the DarkHorse Hellsing mangas.

"Werewolf in the Nazi military" is a "Soldier Elite", very tough, dangerous and high-up on the ladder in rank and power - has nothing to do with shapechanging at all period it's just a title. Hitler had a thing for wolves that's how all the "wolf-naming" of various Nazi stuff came about.

Thanx to WWII buff [livejournal.com profile] mr_mitts for explaining things.

Oh great, this meme result is going to have the Feds on my doorstep

It doesn't take a genius to notice that Rip isn't a Werewolf. The fact that she doesn't turn into one is somewhat of a giveaway.

I love the logical factor here (paraphrased):

"Rip didn't turn into a werewolf because she was so scared she was unable to - with the whole 'Samiel, Samiel' thing!!!"

Yes. And the reason my car won't start is because rogue clowns stole my spark-plugs.

She's a vampire, but one who wasn't so much "not as powerful" but like Luke Valentine "unprepared" - both greatly underestimated Alucard and paid dearly for the mistake.

I wouldn't even say she underestimated. For one; she either knew she was meant to die, or that he was incredibly all-powerful (she sensed his arrival).

Along with the meaning of "werewolf" being set straight, I'd like to know more about "Samiel" - looks to me like Alucard got into her mind and found a deep-seated fear that has something to do with Samiel, why else would that name and not some other Devil-name be used.

Samiel is the name of the Demon in "The Ballad Of The Magic Bullets AKA The Free Shooter" - in the play, which the Major references. The main character makes a plot with Samiel (Evil) for his gun to always strike the target - yet the Devil doesn't play by the rules.
