Why yes I am alive. Although I'm regularly online and in LJ, gotten into the very bad habit of not trying to keep this thing updated.

Going to work on that and aim for at least weekly updates.

In the meantime, here's my overall opinion on the current 'LJ Crisis'

Wanted to post the actual Hitcher's Guide cover, but this was easier. It's ridiculous how people are acting over this whole thing. Doesn't take rocket science to know that if you're going to post NC-17 HP fanart, should friend lock the damn thing.

I know you are a gal (glanced at your profile, and so am I ;) ), but the Californians I learned the usage of that word from use it to address both sexes. However, I will remember your terminology preference ... my apologies if I offended you :(

I actually wandered over to your LJ because of the "Bang Head on Keyboard" bunny icon of yours I saw while posting a reply in ironical_kai's journal (which I would really like to borrow by the way, did you make it?). Which lead me to your profile to see your other user pics, then here. Your "don't panic" message was such a breath of fresh air compared to everything else I have been seeing that I couldn't help but comment. I would love to friend you, but if you aren't interested that is cool.

I've seen this happen on other sites and pitching a big dramatic long wordy fit of "I HATE THIS, IT'S UNFAIR, I'M LEAVING!!!" does nothing except add to the upset. If you don't like it, just quietly leave. Want to do something to change things, be constructive about it instead of spamming hate mail to the LJ staff.

But, alot of people are doing otherwise so won't calm down right away. Will eventually.

Yeah, sometimes spamming and creating a general ruckus can solidify the perception of the offending party that they are dealing with an immature temper tantrum, and they respond accordingly :( I prefer to sit quietly and silently allow my dangerous ideas to rot away the institution from within :P

NC-17 HP fanart started this one. A Snape/Harry in a (supposedly) public post.

The issue is that said artwork depicts a minor (Harry). Also that the artist got suspended without being giving a chance to pull it from view.

This whole starts-from-HP-fans thing's making me think this might originate from Rowling herself, much like what Anne Rice did with her hissyfit over her characters.

There's a few, but it was that one got all this started.

What gets me was the not friend locking posts. I don't care if the subjects are supposedly legal age, if it's 'adult' should friend lock.

True, true, and communities with adult content aught to make any member-wannabes sign a promise that they are over 18. I know yaoi_dailey are doing just that because their stuff's pretty hardcore (and it's daily I mean...just how much yaoi is there in this world?! XD) also they friend-lock all their posts. I think if people are stupid enough to not lock or hide their smut under a cut with a warning they deserve some hasseling drama.

Exactly. If you can't make the effort of course it forces LJ to step-in and do something. When that happens don't sit there and pitch a fit about unfairness.
