Weird seeing back-to-school ads everywhere. Back when I was a kid, school year started in September. Nowadays, schools and holidays don't traditionally begin or end like they use to.

Next week is when all the Xmas stuff will probably be hitting the shelves.

School starts in September here too...soon the BTS ads will hit. Weird though in other parts of the country, the school year has already started or will soon.

School starts so much earlier than it did even 10 years ago. A few years back my kids' school changed to after Labor Day to the week before Labor Day. At least this year it's Sep 1 instead of Aug something.

Seriously. While pretty much all schools below college level still don't start until early September here, there's been back to school ads starting in the last week of July. I think I've also seen Xmas decorations on the shelves in some stores as well. Honestly, though, I find it a little off putting; I don't know how else to put it than that I'm less inclined to buy holiday things that have been pushed since before any holidays closer to the current date have passed.

Halloween seems to have been skipped, and Thanksgiving didn't seem to get much attention either. It's sorta surreal.

Xmas, right? Though it is tempting to say that Thanksgiving showed up for just that week, then vanished again.
