Z and the parasite
Mar. 9th, 2003 09:36 pmMay have found the cuase of my "unexpected pop-up" problem - it seems that on my Internet Explorer, there was "I-Lookup" a sneakly little creature that likes to become the default page of Explorer and will stick a bunch of stuff onto the "Favorites" list.
Since I use CompuServe, instead of Explorer (I've got both on my system) had no idea what was going on. How I picked up that damn default/toolbar creature on my Explorer since the only time I use it is to check for Windows 98 critical updates - go figure *shrugs*. Maybe it was from looking at an adult site in the past - for the record, once in a great while I get bored and look - but it hasen't been recently.
Anyway, it makes sense - while I don't use Explorer, a site with pop-ups can and does trigger Mircosoft Explorer windows to open with the damn ads in them. Since I was getting "Nude Celeb Revue", makes again sense that I maybe pick-uped a little something extra via one of those adult sites. Past experience, I had once a damn full-coverage adult ad that pop-uped after exiting a adult site another time a explosion of pop-ups. A number of those sites will have pop-ups galore happen when you leave them.
Which is why I don't go surfing around following adult links anymore. Was going thru my "Favorites" list (CompuServe) and getting rid of stuff, there was a few adult links on there and I think I re-looked at them - it's hard to remember.
Talk about paying for your pleasure - LOL!!!
Anyway, I got rid of the I-Look and it's little list of extras, so hopefully no more PUWFH (pop-up window from hell).
