I am afraid to watch that movie, but I agree that remakes tend to suck! I don't even watch them. Bleargh.
Well, except the remake of True Grit was arguable better than the original because Rooster remained more true to the character in the book. But that's the Coen brothers so they get a pass.
Some remakes are ok. Invasion of the Body Snatchers, both versions are good and can stand on their own.
The whole point of doing a remake is if the original story (NOT the specials effects!!!) can be improved/expanded on. Should NEVER be done to cash-in, which Hollywood's been doing a lot of.
