New ThunderCats; FABULOUS!!!
Jul. 31st, 2011 05:58 pmI'm not a fan of remakes because 90% of time, they're crap. Most original works are fine and don't need to be redone. The reason most remakes happen is MONEY!!! Why try doing something different/new when you can mine a previous popular title/franchise and strike it rich again?
The thing is, this has frequently proven to be more miss than hit. It's so painfully obvious when a remake is done for scoring BIG BUCKS. This is why a lot of remakes FLOP. All the special effects, big name actors and popular music of the moment don't make a damn bit of good when there's zero heart present.
10% that are successful; wasn't about lining wallets.
The new ThunderCats, I could feel the love the creators had for the original series. A lot of care was taken to flesh out the characters and story. The flavor is still there, but greatly improved upon. I'm chomping at the bit to see more.
Nice tribute: Guy who voiced Lion-O in the old series, is Claudus (Lion-O and adopted brother, Tygra's dad) in NTC. His "Thunder Thunder Thundercats Hooooo" call is the one you hear first (Lion-O's comes up later in the episode).
