I'm going to cut the crap, your account is about to expire. It expires on 2003-02-11. Once your account expires, you will have 15 days until you loose everything that you paid for. Yeah, i know that sucks, so you really want to go and renew your account! Just go to paid account section and renew your account. Its painless, and you know how much you love your DeadJournal just the way it is!"
I had gotten a DJ back when it was a free service, then some months later paid for an account out of pity to them - think is was not too long after they quit with being free.
Near as I can tell, it'll go back to "free account" but I really don't care whether it does or not - posting on there was a pain, first it was during their free service and the damn site would be down most of the time, second when after going paid/invited there was pop-ups!!! Made the switch to LJ back in November and left a note in my DJ about all that in case anybody needed to find me. Still check daily the Otherkin Group over there and the people who belong to it without bothering to log in, everything is open to the public so that makes things easy.
Anyway, from the way the DJ email sounds - feels like their biting the hand that feeds them
Update on the crappy Vamp Group I've commented on in past entries - some VERY nasty business went down in there last week. There's always somebody snapping at somebody else for whatever reason, but this was UGLY and of course Mr. Can't Mod not only didn't bother to cool things off (doesn't deal with any types of disagreements/fights) he has the GALL to do a post to all members about "Bickering" (if you're going to bicker, please put it up in the Subject Line so other members can skip over reading it) EXCUSE ME, WHAT WAS GOING DOWN BETWEEN THE TWO WAS NOT BICKERING!!! "Bickering" implies "minor" and this wasn't minor, it got to the point of supposedly serious complaints being sent to Yahoo for personal threats!!! Long story short, Mr. Can't Mod got scared and was doing posts on Yahoo's TOS for fear that due to what went down and his failure to do anything about it maybe put the Group in violation of Yahoo. The Group's Membership has dropped to 941 since that jazz and the other bouts of snapping. Just as bloody well, Can't Mod, when he first created the Group was spamming and listharvesting (he takes great pride in admitting this) all over Yahoo, the Group grew too fast and had everybody and their brother joining. Throw in his lack of Mod skills (he keeps saying he doesn't want to Mod the Group because it's a free speech Group and belongs to everybody) and his attitude towards the members - talks down to people, his refusal to deal with fights, and almost nothing in the way of rules except for on posting which I think was done for his sole benefit - the Group has increasing become a JOKE!!!
Yahoo has in the past deleted Groups that were WAY out of control. I'm hoping that'll be the case with this shitfest - it's embarassing to see what goes on in there, so badly run and nothing really worthwild being discussed, everytime somebody starts a good topic, it's blown to the wayside because of the damn infighting.
As much as like the idea of Can't Mod twisting in the wind, did take pity on the guy and sent via the IM the bit of info about Yahoo taking charge (i.e. "Deletion") of a Group that was allowed to become a hostile environment.
By the way, the yutz has at the bottom of some of his posts a VC Card with his address/fax and home numbers listed for all the world to see - in light of how "popular" he is with most people in and out of Yahoo, well guess he enjoys getting deaththreats.
