Was poking around on Amazon looking at the Italian Horror dvds and saw Lucio Fulci's "Cat in the Brain"* - the movie is supposedly "so-so to bad" but THAT ARTWORK!!! I copied the boxart pic and with a crop/resample now have yet another LJ pic to use (probably when I got things on my mind - LOL). I'm going to have it as the "default" pic for awhile so everybody can get a disturbing eyefull;)
*"By describing the madding itch in his head as a cat in his brain, "Fulci" (both the character and the real Fulci) evokes the demon piggyback rider of Robert Bloch's story "Enoch", who also seems to be the product of a killer's dementia....until the brain eating Enoch decides to switch heads."
The above was from Jay Slater's "EATEN ALIVE! Italian Cannibal and Zombie Movies (2002)".
"Cat in the Brain" in a nutshell is about a guy who makes horror movies and he starts loosing it - one of these days I'll have to see it. "Bloch's "Enoch" was part of a anthology horror movie made many years back but I can't remember the name of the movie - the story is a guy who wants money and kills his Uncle to get his hands on the loot. When he opens a locked door, instead of finding money, there's a normal looking tabby who in fact is a demon named "Enoch" that demands "food" (and it's not "Meow Mix") or he'll start causing increasingly painful headaches in the guy. I think at some point after breaking the guy's will not to kill, the cat orders him to call it "Master".
I got a bunch of Bloch's books - I'll have to look through them and see if I can find the story.
One of my cats is a tabby, but her name is "Trudy" and she can be a "pain" when hungry - which she is right now because the catfood dish is almost empty (she doesn't like seeing the bottom of the bowl), I better go fix that or never hear the end of it (LOL)!!!
