*grumble* (WARNING - rant ahead)
Apr. 22nd, 2003 10:43 pmAm starting to get ticked at my Goth Group - now, I can understand things slowing down and people busy doing other things. What I don't understand is when people are busy in another Group and it's pretty much the same people that also belong to my Group.
At first wasn't too much of a problem because the topics there were mostly about the War and related stuff which I prefer not to be in mine - but as time went on, the type of topics that would be in my Group is happening over there. The posting drops off in mine but stays steady in there.
Plus I go to the trouble of posting things of interest over in mine and little response. Last night I did a post on "Ringu" with some links included - I check in today expecting reactions to it and ZIP!!! Meanwhile things are going gangbusters in the other Group.
Bad enough being ignored in somebody else's Group - but being ignored in my own Group????!!!!
The worst part of it is - it's my Group that get's hit on sometimes by other Mods for active members - and it seems sometimes like I'm just something to be used. It takes a lot of work going thru profiles to find people - I haven't done it lately because it's gotten so much harder for some reason to find and keep newbies since Yahoo went from Clubs to Groups. I use to enjoy looking for people on the New to Goth Interest list, but ever since the high turnover rate happened it's dishearting to invite a bunch of people and hardly anyone joins or if they do up and leave after a couple of days of silent lurking.
Am getting the feeling that newbies just want to be entertained and that's it - no joining in. I allow a lot of freedom topic-wise & posting-wise. Many Mods want people to stay on topic - talk only about this and only this no matter what, post a certain way - no chatter, no one-liners, no whinnying. I run my Group like "Cheers" not a Neo-Nazi camp.
Needed to get that off my chest, if it was kept bottled up to long would have festered then without warning exploded - better to say it in my LJ and let some steam off.
Guess I'll hit the New to Goth Interest list sometime this week and try to get some fresh active blood into my Group.
