Never use to like hot weather. Now, kinda enjoy it. Put the blame on the Winter, the last horrible one in particular. Felt like it would NEVER end, constant cold - UGH!

Probably because of that freaky Winter is why I'm having an ant (little black ones) problem. In the past they would maybe try, either via the back front door, to get in. Usually just the one time (after making it crystal clear they weren't welcome - RAID). This time around, they tried not only the back door, but a whole new route as well, several times. Guess the past weather being so long and cold drove them into desperation and risking my repeated wrath with bug spray. Never been so persistent in the past.

Lucked out finding where the nest might be outside (confirmed by placing a half eaten little chocolate donut nearby - didn't take long for them to swarm it). Went to the store for bait, decided on Maggie's Farm Simply Effective Ant Killer Bait. Between the cute box art and "syrup", thought could work. Few drops on said donut along with a small sheet of cardboard with a bit of dosed wet catfood (adult ants eat only sugar, meat is for the larva). Don't worry, made sure animals won't bother with it, but you never know with squirrels.

So far, seems to be working. Also got a different brand bait station, which they haven't touched.

My next trick is to spread diatomaceous earth all over.

Fingers crossed.
