When I did the previous post on sizing problems, didn't realize until after the post that my scanner wasn't working???!!!

Well, it was all caused by PcDocRX OnCall - http://www.pcdocrx.net/cgi-bin/view.cgi/pcweb201/index.html - was having last week a damn dll error (had NOTHING to do with the scanner) PcDoc decided to fix not only the dll error but a few other things it found "wrong" as well, like the scanner and my firewall which were perfectly fine!!!

The whole dll error was caused by my trying to get rid of "WeatherBug" a stupid-unneeded-pointless-the-temperate-wasn't-even-right feature offered on the AOL Instant Messenger upgrade that I checked like an idiot. Got rid of that only to be haunted by "dll error message" which doesn't hurt anything but is annoying to see pop-up when logging on.

Goggled for a solution, got PcDoc and you already know that part of the story.

Fixing the firewall (had to manually enable it after turning on the computer) was no problem - it just needed to be uninstalled then reinstalled - ALL BETTER!!!

The scanner was another story - after repeated attempts of scanner uninstall/reinstall all Friday night/early morning Saturday and making a mess of my poor system (ScanDisk had a mother of a time fixing everything and defrag wouldn't run all the way through because it was detecting errors, so had to go into "Safe Mode" and run a through scan which took several hours to run then defrag). After getting the system all back to normal tried once again to reinstall the scanner and once again nada.

Sent a email to Epson (scanner company) asking for help which they gave and it did the trick, my scanner is no longer a $100 paperweight.

Now I can work on figuring out sizing down images on it - I hope.
