I didn't do anything special. Did my Maiden Voyage (in the new car) to see my parents (they live little over an hour away). I've driven there many moons ago - big difference when you got a way better air conditioner.
Wasn't all that hot, surprisingly enough - low 90's. Roads were very quiet to and from. Guess everybody had already headed out on Friday for the holiday weekend. Usually there's much more traffic.
We didn't do much. Sister had to work. Parents are having remodeling done on their house, so no major celebratory on-site thing going on (went out to eat). The kitchen/dinning area is almost nonexistent right now. If it wasn't for the fridge sitting in there, you wouldn't know it was suppose to be (toilet parked at the far end adds further confusion). Everything else is gone: No sink, stove, cupboards, etc.,. Gutted.
Hall bathroom: Gutted. It's toilet, I already mentioned where it's taking up temporary residence.
Linen and one of the main bedroom's closets are part of a conversion into another room - a big walk-in.
All the stuff from those places are crammed into wherever there's room anywhere else inside. Mom is right, parts of the house do look like an episode of Hoarders.
Outside: Workshop addition onto the garage, new covered deck, and a patio area.
Since April, Monday thru Friday, from 6:30 AM on throughout the whole day, constant activity and noise. Workmen all over the place. Parents and four dogs have to shut themselves into a packed room. On the bright-side; got computer, TV, microwave, and snacks on-hand. Air-conditioning got recently installed really helps, too.
Might be all done by the end of August. Hope for their sanity it is.
Anyway, nice low-key B-day.
Just had a power outrage while typing this up. Something short of a miracle didn't loose the entry.

The mental image on this amused the hell out of me but I really hope, for your parents' sanity, that the remodeling is done SOON!
