It's been snowing almost non-stop today. YES, it snows in NV, in the Northern portion of the state.

To clear up the confusion once and for all, NO, Las Vegas isn't all of NV. It is ONE of many places in NV.

Here's a map of the entire state. Note the names of some the city's listed. I live in Reno aka nowhere near Las Vegas.

Las Vegas is located in the Southern part of the state. Couple big name Southern CA cities: Los Angeles and San Diego.

Reno is located in the Northern part of the state. Couple big name Northern CA cities: Sacramento (2 hour drive from here) and San Fransisco (5 hours).

To oversimplify in remembering the difference:
Southern NV - Las Vegas - The Mob
Northern NV - Reno - The Donner Party

It snows in Florida, too. Not quite enough to make you break out the snow tires, but, it does happen!

Huh? Knew about the cold spells (which are supposedly very helpful in reducing invasive Burmese python population) that could cause frost, but had no idea snow was sometimes coming down too.

It's rare, but I've seen flurries.

It is. BUT, Southern NV is low desert (pretty much what you think a desert is). Northern; high desert (Hello, snow).

I actually didn't think about the Donner party in Nevada. I guess most people just equate Vegas with the whole of Nevada, which has got to be so damn frustrating for pretty much every Nevadan (Nevadite?) not in Vegas.

It's probably pretty much what people in NY go thru. Tell anybody outside of the state where you are, and said anybody will almost always automatically assume "New York City".
