So. Many. Books.

Got the big clean up of the library/cat room (where the crawlspace is located) done. It started Friday evening and took most of the weekend.

The room itself is small and didn't take long to thoroughly vacuum and Bissel clean. The major time suck was all the books. So many to carry out, so many to dust, so many to carry back in, so many to re-shelve. So. Many. Muther. Fuckin. Books!

Felt never-ending. Deal with a batch, look over at what's left, no obvious decrease. How I managed to find the strength to carry on...Delirium? Dream? Desire? Despair? Destiny? Destruction? Death? Yes, I got The Sandman trades. Speaking of Neil Gaiman, found my copy of American Gods, not that it was ever lost, but I know now where exactly it is. May do a re-read in preparation for April 30th. If everything goes according to plan, have wifi again by then and watch on the big screen.

Damn happy tackled that room first. Whole lot of work and loss of sleep, but totally worth it. I've gone in numerous time just to admire what I did; neat and dust free at long last!

Off for a much needed rest.

Big part of my getting physical books was to have several titles on-hand for work break&lunch reading. Since getting a second Kindle, I'm not continuously adding to the herd on a large scale anymore. Still got quite a few books, but these are mostly keepers.

American Gods seems to be a really popular book, like some sort of cult classic.
I've never actually read it, maybe I need to shift it up my to read list.

I like it. Majority of Gaiman's work is good.

The one that kinda left me cold, that everybody else adores is Good Omens. It's ok, but I was expecting something hell of lot funnier.

I have to re-sort later on. Not all of the series are together, some similar topics aren't grouped. Towards the end, I wanted it all back on the shelf to hell with order ("I'm tired. Need a shower. Have to do laundry. Wanna watch Feud.")

Have two. The litter boxes are in the library. Litter generates a lot of dust, the clumping brands are the worst. I have to be extra careful now putting in fresh litter. Too rigorous a pour = cloud.

I'm pretty sure that books breed in the wild. That's the only thing I can think of to explain how I got so many of them! Hope you got some rest after all that!

I crashed a few times. Probably won't sleep properly until after the cable upgrade. Just too excited. Last night stayed up late adding titles to my Amazon stream that Netflix didn't have. I'm seriously considering Shudder subscription too.

I've been putting off the cleaning and sorting of the bookshelves. So much clutter, and tbh, I know there's tons of books on those shelves I will never read a second time. I should just do a little culling and donate some to my friend's Little Free Library... or take them to Powell's Books and sell a few. The same could be said for my DVD shelf for the movies I'll probably never watch again (that were gifts or freebies at conventions).

But that feeling when it's all done cannot be described. It is so freeing and awesome!

I've found charity pick-ups VERY helpful in uncluttering. Send out a flyer of when they'll be driving around the neighborhood. I fill a garbage bag with donations (usually clothing, worn shoes, and books). Leave it at the curb with the flyer taped on, and they take the bag! Thousand times easier than finding a box and hauling books to the other side of town to donate.

I've been going through my books as well lately. :) Are you just organizing and sorting, or also purging? I am getting rid of several bags of books. Already donated some to a friend's air B&B and the local coffee shop that has a little free lending library.

Got some Sandman collectibles, too. Still in their boxes and blister packs. Don't have any neat way of displaying them so they're all stored up in the attic.

Next week, American Gods series!!!! Never did do the re-read.
