Heat and Prime disappointment
Jul. 21st, 2019 07:15 pmHit the summer high here today - 99F. Unlike the rest of the US, NV has dry heat. Not that makes the 90's wonderful. It's still really hot and miserable. But when the temp drops here, people don't continue suffer as much from the heat. I really feel for you guys having that damn humidity. Being born and raised in Southern CA (beach about, give or take, 40 minute drive away) never knew 80's could be pleasant or that sweat actually evaporates until moved to Reno and it's dry heat.
Having rooftop swamp coolers and a shaded area to park in at work and air conditioning at home sure don't hurt none either.
In other news: Amazon's Prime Fest, once again, no discount on anything I REALLY wanted. Last two years, wasted my time checking out routers to drop in price on my WishList. This time, having the option of falling back on B-day GiftCards, decided to focus on more realistically attainable items: Johnny Sokko and His Flying Robot: The Complete Series, Fleece Sherpa throw, and Stormtrooper (for the record, I'm not really into Star Wars, but I like Darth Vader and the Stormtroopers. If I went to Disneyland's Galaxy's Edge, it just be to look for Stormtroopers and nothing else. While everybody else is standing in lines for hours on end, I'd be parked on bench in the shade and Stormtrooper watching.).
Of course, none of those got Prime Day-ed. I got Johnny and the blanket, Stormtrooper has to wait another day. On a lark and needing a new wind chime (for some weird reason, non-fancy plain old regular wind chimes are next to impossible to find in stores nowadays) and found one discounted from $12.99 to $7.99. Not a major score, but it is a Prime deal.
There's always a next Prime Day. Meanwhile, the wind chimes are really nice.
