Log Cabin and Bisquick
Jun. 21st, 2020 04:14 pmThat's what I grew-up with and have in my cupboard right now.
When I went to the store on Friday. While there, checked out the pancake/syrup aisle to see if Aunt Jemima and Cream of Wheat guy got pulled off the shelf. She's gone, along with most of the pancake stuff. Couple of Mrs. Butterworth (who's white, but supposedly she's kinda gives the wrong impression) left. Cream of Wheat guy still there. Uncle Ben is still around too. They're all on sale.
Never had Uncle Ben rice or Cream of Wheat. Or Mrs. Butterworth. Even if I did, I wouldn't miss them. Didn't think twice about land-o-Lakes gal disappearing off the label.
Don't give a damn about the Confederacy symbols going the way of the dodo, either. I don't know how the hell people can willingly and happily support all that while knowing full well what it really stood for: Slavery and racism. Wanting to secede from the US for the sole reason of keeping slaves. Afterwards, using those very symbols to keep freed slaves and their descendants (plus other non-whites) in their place - some cases, to murder them.
Refreshed my memory on what and how many states were Confederate: Texas, Arkansas, Louisiana, Tennessee, Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia, Florida, South Carolina, North Carolina and Virginia. There's also the boarder states (didn't secede, but kept slaves): Maryland, Delaware, West Virginia, Kentucky and Missouri.
Only four years long, and yet one of the worst. (From Digtal History) The Civil War was the deadliest war in American history. Altogether, over 600,000 died in the conflict, more than World War I and World War II combined. A soldier was 13 times more likely to die in the Civil War than in the Vietnam War.
All because of slavery.
The current reddest state, Texas, keep slaves two years after the fact. This is how Juneteenth came into existence?!
I'm learning a lot from CBS News and CNN since Memorial Day.
On a happier note: Annoying Orange's Rally not a success. Spewed a lot of obvious nonsense, lies, and racist shit. K-pop fans, TikTokers, and Republican Never-Trumpers helped with the lack of attendance :) Getting royally called out for ignoring CDC guidelines and pandering to white power freaks. The Bolton book is out on Tuesday.
EDIT: Bolton said he's voting for Biden. OUCH!!! XD

10 bucks says all those maskless grouped trumpanizes who attended the rally will be why there's a spike in a few days. What new excuse will he come up with for not wearing a mask?
