Thank the gods. Can't take anymore surprise freezing. Previous post, that was THE LAST DAY OF THAT SHIT!!!

FYI: Snow flurries popping up in April and occasionally May aren't unusual here. BUT, sudden switch to Winter conditions, with snow dumps and streets turned into ice skating rinks, that's not normal. Supposedly, those over the top fires in Australia seriously screwed with La Nina.

I dunno what's going to happen with El Nino. Maybe it'll be warmer, with rain instead of snow. Or he'll turn into a raging monster like his sister did previously.

Moderate weather for Winter i.e. no more freezing cold, ice, and snow? YES, PLEASE! There will still be water, but people will have to stop wasting it on their personal big, green lawns and private pools.

Noticed a change in at Home Dept garden center last year and continued this year: Succulents (Sedum) that are Zone 4-9. Reno is 7b. Don't recall seeing succulents offered in the past meant for year round outdoors here. Sedum is a BIG group, and a number of them can handle freezing and heat. Told my sister about them popping up for sale, and she said that there must be a recent demand for them. People want to conserve water, want low water and care plants that can handle the environment here.

The ones I planted last year, didn't have a problem being buried deep in snow. Of course, got more few weeks ago.

Looks like my wish for a succulent/rock garden may come true.

It might be a warmer winter here ahead, but not sure how much rain we'll get. This past winter had exceeded my low expectations, rainfall-wise. I just don't like shivering in my room every day.

Lovely to see even the big box stores getting on board with region-appropriate plants. We had such a weird winter here, with an unusual long hard freeze that killed so many plants that would normally have survived the winter. I'm not sure I'll replace them. We're 7b/8a here, but with lots rain.
