Over Thanksgiving weekend, Cartoon Network aired their take on "The Hobbit". I saw this (as a kid) when it first aired back in 1977 during that Thanksgiving weekend. Have seen it a few times since then, but to have it pop-up unexpectedly last week was a wonderful nostalgic surprise.

Can't say the same about CN's tonight offering of Ralph "Rotoscope" Bakshi shitfest "Lord of the Rings", had to turn the channel over to Disney. I have NEVER liked ANY of his adult stuff - it's all so badly done and disappointing. The kid-stuff, on the other hand, is actually good - or rather that's how I remember it (haven't seen any of it for decades).

Anyway, thank the gods he quit animation.

10 bucks says, next weekend will probably be Rankin/Bass "The Return of the King", and that I will watch.

why does Bakshi!Aragorn look like a native American?
why does Bakshi!Sam look like a developmentally disabled potato?
why does Bakshi!Eowyn look like a tired old housewife?
