zimon66: (Spectra Soldier)

Well first off, anybody who's bothered to read the previous entry, I spent a good portion of the night with Spectra Soldiers (LOL!!!) - after that had to plug myself into the stereo and listen to Blondie. When "Battle of the Planets" aired (about 1979) was right around at the same time Blondie's "Eat to the Beat" album was out. So as a result, Spectra is forever connected to Blondie music and vise versa. Anyway, stayed on the stereo up until about 12:30 AM and so missed the festivites on the tube. Then hit the sack were I stayed until about 11:30 AM - got up and watched "Animal Precinct" Marathon on the "Animal Planet" channel for a few hours. Decided to watch the G-Force dvd I got - took a bit of time figuring out Rhino's menu-method - wanted to see the original Japanese version ("Gatchaman") - had to hunt around for it. Rhino has all 3 versions of 2 of the show's episodes ("Attack of the Space Terrapin"/"Rescue of the Astronauts") for viewing - "Battle of the Planets" (the kiddifed Sandy Frank version), "G-Force" (Cartoon Network's close to the original series version), and "Gatchaman" (the original). The first menu on the disk is for "Battle of the Planets" and no way in hell was I going to watch that watered down version with 7-Zark-7 and mostly bad character voicing (although Janet Waldo, Key Luke, and the two guys who do Tiny and Chief Anderson's voices are good). After seeing, years later, Cartoon Network's dealing with the series, I just can't bring myself to watch the Sandy Frank version which is a damn shame since it was that version I first saw back in '79 fell deeply in love with and watched every episode aired numerous times. Plus, it was Sandy Frank that coined the "Spectra" jazz - I love the line Jason said a couple of times in the series, "The Happiness Boys from Spectra" - LOL!!!

Anyway, watched "Gatchaman" and was surprised that there was some cussing in it. Also that Sandy Frank used the original music score - pretty much everything else they screwed with but not the soundtrack - go figure???

Sometime this weekend going to watch "G-Force" and maybe work-up the nerve to view a little of "Battle of the Planets".

Major, major, major plus of the dvd - lots and lots of Spectra Soldiers in both episodes - DAMN, wish my system was able to do screen-captures, could be up to my blue-eyes in Spectra Soldier pics right about now.

Man, I need a REAL hobby - LOL!!!

And for a further laugh, going to use a Spectra Soldier as my Profile Pic for the rest of the week - then it's back to using my own face again.
